Artist's Statement

My works on paper are very landscape in nature. The art is motivated by my life experiences brought to me by the beauty of the area I inhabit. Mood changes, the seasons change. A painting may start soft and uncomplicated but it may end muddy and harsh. Successive moments of now, flecks of paint - movement of arm and hand leaving marks on paper. The product is an alternative reality not a literal representation of any specific spot in my environment. They represent that flick of my life then in those fields of color disturbed by marks drawn with a tube of paint.
